Wiesbaden 2010
Last week we took the team bus to Wiesbaden Siegburg tournament again. Also present were the usual suspects Uli Frink 8k, 6k Peter Schäfer, Torsten Knauf 4d and Bloggomat 1k. Only Thomas Brucksch 1k wanted this time not with. He preferred instead to continue as a supervisor of the very successful team Niederkassel the HPM to Munich. People say that the only reason that we been granted, was comfortable around half past eight direction Wiesbaden break (and not, as in Gronig to this time are already at the venue). We came because of these planning large power at very punctual.
waited with us willing to play a total of 40 in Wiesbaden Palace of Culture (photo M. Seibel ) to the kickoff of the tournament. Jana Hollmann 1d had hoped the general coordinators, many more participants and led the supposed absence of the very autumnal, not to say bad weather returned. To underscore the autumn component clearly all the doors and windows had been opened wide open for hours spear. I was not the only one who has been frozen while almost the ass and I was really glad my thick jacket motorcycle to have had it.
With only 15 minutes late, it was then really got going. 5 rounds were played with 30 minutes of reflection and Hessian Byoymi to German Sudden Death. After the first two laps I had then become much warmer. This was probably due to the combination of fast play, hot coffee and windows. After two games we went to lunch, who spent the Siegburg-Connection at a fine Italian restaurant. As a starter, we had fresh mussels in white wine sauce. Actually, a delicacy, but Peter said that the shells would make his stomach on Atari and waived thanks. Unfortunately for him, more for us!
I do not know if it was now time for the shells, but we lost all our third tournament game. For Torsten especially bitter because he was in his game against the eventual champions Young Rhee 6d from Chicago / USA well forward and threw them away easily. In the end, he finished with a 3-2 in third place. Uli and I also played 3-2, only Peter had to settle for a 2-3. If he had ever eaten more shells!
Ironically, no one managed to play the tournament 4-1, so awarded at the presentation ceremony were hardly prices. Fortunately there was still The "How many bricks are-in-the-box?" guessing game in which there was then just five winners. There were a lot of nice prizes to choose from and the Bloggomat even had the good fortune to be able to take those with a home. So if that was not successful Sunday outing! Anyway, the one-day tournaments for me its special charm and are an enrichment of the tournament circuit. I hope it goes well again in 2011 in the Palace of Culture in Wiesbaden.
